Week 10
1. What did you learn this week?
In lab this week we started by talking about evolution. We had a quick discussion about what technology we would choose to have in our future classrooms. We talked about which form of technology would be most beneficial for both students and educators. There were a lot of forms of technology I had never thought about before. Next we participated in a bean lab, the goal of this simulation was to demonstrate the process of adaptation and selection. Through this lab we acted as predators to collect prey, this was a great hands-on activity to strengthen our knowledge on natural selection.
2. How can you apply what you've learned to teaching in the future?
I can apply what I learned to teaching in the future by creating activities that are hands-on and help show the natural selection process. This activity was a great way to show change over time, which is a real concept that students need to know. The bean lab was a great way to make science concepts and vocabulary within the classroom more fun and engaging for all students.
3. What are new or remaining questions?
How can we adjust the bean lab to make it more elementary student friendly?
Natalie, your blog is so well done, great job this week!
ReplyDeleteHi Natalie! Great blog, I agree with your question. I also wonder how the bean lab can be geared towards younger students? I think the modification of a knife to a popsicle stick was smart.
